Overall Opinion:

Amazon Basic Care Probiotic 5 Billion CFU is a proprietary probiotic blend formulated for adult men and women.

I ended up liking it a bit more than average and give it 3 out of 5 stars.

You only have to take 1 vegetarian capsule per day with a meal.  It says to store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and keep out of reach of children.

This probiotic has a good, balanced formula with 5 billion CFU and 8 probiotic strains.

It also has a prebiotic fiber blend that helps keep the healthy bacteria alive.

It’s only $12.99 for a 2-month supply and Amazon backs it with a 1-year money back guarantee.

The capsules are allergy friendly and I didn’t have any icky side effects.

I think this is a good option for adults with low to moderate digestive issues.

I have a wider range of ailments spanning from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), constipation, stomach pain and bloating to food and seasonal allergies.

I did notice a bit of relief from some of my issues but not as much as I’d like.

It helped with my IBS symptoms and regularity, but I didn’t have consistent results and still had waves of issues.

I think it’s a great value for the price and a decent starting place if you’re looking for support of occasional stomach upsets and overall digestive health, but not as much for specific ailments.

The Details:

Ingredients/Strain Profile

Amazon Basic Care Probiotic has 5 Billion CFU and 8 probiotic strains in each capsule.

I like that they list out the specific strains used for each probiotic.

One strain I like in this supplement is Bifidobacterium lactis BI-04.

It’s a multi-purpose friendly bacteria naturally found in the intestines.  Research shows that it helps improve and regulate digestive functions, regulate the immune system, reduce the frequency and severity of respiratory diseases, and decrease the side effects of antibiotics.

B. lactis has also been shown to reduce nasal allergies, positive effects for inflammatory bowel disease, and is highly resistant to stomach acid (so it can survive and get to where it needs to go in your body).

Another strain used in this formula is Lactobacillus acidophilus La-14.  This is another super star healthy bacteria naturally found in the mouth, gut, and vagina.

L. acidophilus LA-14 is highly acidic and bile-resistant, so it can safely travel from the mouth to the large intestine. It’s also very good at sticking to intestinal cells, which is crucial so it can exert its supportive effects on the body.

Studies show this particular probiotic helps promote proper gut health, immune function, vaginal health support, and kidney health.

When this strain colonizes in the body, it’s shown to balance out bacteria levels and push out pathogens and harmful bacteria.  L. acidophilus LA-14 is also great for treating and preventing vaginal infections and bacterial vaginosis (BV).

This probiotic has 60 mg of a prebiotic blend including Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and Larch Arabinogalactan (FiberAid).

Larch arabinogalactan is a fiber that ferments in the intestine.  It increases healthy intestinal bacteria and helps balance the overall bacteria levels.  This fiber and FOS both act as a fertilizer for the friendly bacteria and benefit the health of the digestive tract.

Allergy Concerns

This probiotic doesn’t have any allergy concerns.

The capsules are vegetarian, which is a plus!

There’s also no gluten or lactose in them.

They don’t have any artificial colors or flavors.

The other ingredients include:  Cellulose, Vegetarian Capsule (Modified Cellulose, Water) Silica, Magnesium Stearate and Calcium Silicate.

This is an Amazon product so naturally I got it on Amazon.

It’s quite a great deal, which is something we’ve also come to expect from this retail giant.

You can get a bottle of 60 capsules for only $12.99.

You take 1 capsule daily, so you get a 2-month supply.

It works out to only 22 cents per day to take these, which is a fantastic deal!

This is one of the most affordable probiotics I’ve seen and it’s a great value.

Side Effects

I didn’t have any negative side effects with this probiotic.

That’s always a plus.

It’s a good balance of probiotic strains and CFU and allergy friendly.

However, it didn’t help with my IBS, constipation, food intolerances, belly pain and bloat as much as I’d like but I did see some positive effects.

It may be more effective or beneficial for someone with moderate or occasional digestive issues.

Amazon offers a fantastic satisfaction guarantee.

If you aren’t satisfied, they’ll refund you for any reason within a year of purchase.

It says to call:  1-877-485-0385

One thing that seems odd is that the product says:  This item is non-returnable, but if the item arrives damaged or defective, you may request a refund or replacement.
